A new scientific article has been published under the EuReComp project, titled “Repurposing EoL WTB Components into a Large-Scale PV-Floating Demonstrator” in the journal Sustainability.
The paper investigates the feasibility of repurposing large-scale wind turbine blade (WTB) components—traditionally difficult to recycle—into floating platforms for photovoltaic (PV) systems. Through engineering design, performance assessment, and experimental validation, the authors present a scalable model that exemplifies the circular use of composite materials in renewable energy infrastructure.
The study aligns directly with EuReComp’s mission to explore holistic solutions for the reuse, repair, and recycling of end-of-life composites, and further demonstrates how sector-spanning innovation can support both sustainability and functionality.
